Gamescom Opening Night Shows Off More PS5 Power

Insomniac Games' anticipated Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was one of the big standouts during Sony's PS5 showcase earlier this summer, and now we've got an even longer look at its gameplay as part of Gamescom's Opening Night Live.

The gameplay demo used was an extended version of the initial reveal of the game, and showcases that two heroes chasing after Dr. Nefarious. In the demo, Ratchet could pull at tears in the fabric of reality and manipulate the environment around him, jumping through space without loads throughout the level.

The demo ended with the same tease as before - Clank being thrown through a dimensional rift on his own, only to awaken and met a female Lombax.

In another interview with Gamesradar, we got more information about the haptic feedback of the DualSense controller including the fact that we'll get to feel rail grinding and swinging.

Fresh Covid-19 cases climbing after a lull
Today is the 158th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Twitter, the Ministry of Health said, " Active cases are only 22 percent of total COVID-19 cases".

We're also given a glimpse at Ratchet using the Rift Tether, which is a new gadget introduced in this game.

Game Director Mike Daly spoke to the rifts players will be able to find.

In the seven-minute-plus clip, which reveals the most promising look at Rift Apart thus far, the power of the PlayStation 5 quickly becomes evident. Insomniac calls the story an "extension of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus" with "a lot of returning characters and planets" through the lens of the multi-dimension premise. A similar option will also appear in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, another upcoming PS5 game from Insomniac.
