Denver Broncos star linebacker Von Miller suffered a season-ending ankle injury at the end of the team's practice on Tuesday.

There is fear that it's a season-ending injury, according to sources.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that one witness described it as a "freak" injury to his ankle suffered late in practice. The three-time All-Pro and Super Bowl 50 MVP has recorded double-digit sacks in seven of his nine National Football League seasons and is obviously a critical piece of the Broncos defense.

After being sidelined for seven games in 2013, the former Defensive Rookie of the Year has missed just one contest over the last six years.

Adding to the tough times in Denver, fellow Broncos pass rusher Bradley Chubb is expected to start the season slowly as he eases his way back from a serious leg injury of his own.

Last season, Miller had eight sacks.

The Broncos open the season Monday night against Tennessee.

The Broncos recorded 40 sacks while allowing 19.8 points per game in Vic Fangio's debut campaign as the team's head coach in 2019.
