Williamson's son posted an emotional tribute.

And he ended with, 'I love you Daddy R.I.H KING WILLIAMSON'. Apart from performing some of the Temptation's biggest hits for concerts and television, Williamson released two albums with the legendary Motown troupe, including 2007's Back to Front and 2010's Still Here. The singer was also reportedly working on a gospel project titled "Send the Rain" prior to his death.

He once said he did "more in six months of being a Temptation than many artists have done in a lifetime". He first joined the group, which has seen many members come and go since its 1960 inception, in 2006.

The singer added: "But I didn't want to be an imitation or one who impersonates my predecessors". There was a limited amount of room on the stage, and I could not play to the crowd as Otis wanted me to.
