"Unfortunately, the air quality in Seattle has gotten worse overnight here at T-Mobile Park and it is not clearing at all today", Mariners president Kevin Mather said.

The Padres will be considered the visiting team in games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "The Mariners will serve as the home team for all three contests".

Both the Mariners and Giants had a scheduled day off Thursday, so the games were pushed back a day and relocated to Oracle Park.

Seattle manager Scott Servais said he thought "visibility and playability" were fine Monday night after the games and that Major League Baseball officials were comfortable with allowing the makeup doubleheader to proceed. It's bigger than all of us and what's going on there with the smoke and whatnot. "But I don't think anybody was really prepared for it". There are now nine major wildfires burning in the Washington.
