Samsung Confirms Galaxy S20 Will Get Android 11 First Clarifies OS Update Promise

Now, it seems that the OEM has officially announced some devices from the Galaxy A series that will get three Android OS updates.

So, if you're anxious about missing out on new features, design tweaks, and most importantly of all, security patches and improvements, you'll really want to see your Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet listed below. That means support will cease once the phones reach Android 13.

More specifically, Samsung says that only a few devices would be getting three years of Android upgrades, and all of them are part of the Galaxy lineups, both on phones and tablets.

Today, the company has listed the devices that will receive three Android updates as opposed to its prior update policy of offering just two major Android updates.

"Samsung is committed to supporting our users to fully enjoy the latest mobile experiences while they are using Galaxy devices", stated Janghyun Yoon, Senior Vice President and Head of Software Platform Team, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. For other Galaxy devices, Samsung is committed to providing the latest Android OS upgrades until the hardware specifications allow to provide the optimized mobile experience for our users.

Preparing for Potential Covid-19 Vaccine Launch, Says Moderna CEO
Drugmakers have already started manufacturing supplies of their vaccine candidates to be ready as soon as they get the go ahead. With the funding, researchers hope to enrol 150 healthy volunteers to test the viability of the DNA-based vaccine.

Also, it is mentioned that select upcoming devices in the Galaxy A series will also be eligible to receive three major OS updates.

As mentioned earlier by the Samsung executive, the OEM is now planning to give the three OS update support only to the high-end devices in the Galaxy A series. The Galaxy Z series, which is the moniker that denotes Samsung's folding smartphones, will get the same treatment as the flagship Galaxy S brand.

Tablets: Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G, Tab S7+, Tab S7 5G3, Tab S7, Tab S6 5G4, Tab S6, Tab S6 Lite and upcoming Tab S series devices.

The announcement is long overdue and puts Samsung on slightly more competitive footing with the likes of Apple's iPhone lineup and Google's Pixel smartphones.
