Libya's internationally recognised Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj said on Wednesday he wants to quit by the end of October, which could feed political tensions in Tripoli amid new efforts to find a political solution to the country's conflict.

"I declare my honest desire to hand over my duties to the next executive authority no later than the end of October", al-Sarraj said, citing "internal and external conspiracies" and other obstacles to the effectiveness of his government.

Citing the work of United Nations -sponsored talks in Geneva, he pointed to progress in agreeing a way to unify Libya's fragmented state and prepare for elections.

Libya has been divided between rival administrations since 2014 and has suffered almost a decade of chaos and conflict following the overthrow and death of longtime dictator Muammar Qaddafi in a popular uprising in 2011.

Talks are expected to resume soon in Geneva.

It is to be recalled that Pelosi had cautioned that the US-UK trade deal could suffer if Britain moves against the global trade treaty.

The talks had outlined the process for determining a new Presidential Council and the appointment of a new head of government who would take office "peacefully", Sarraj added.

Last month he called for a cease-fire and the demilitarization of Sirte and Jurfa area. The move will be followed by establishing a new committee to oversee revenue distribution, Maiteeg said.

He welcomed the "preliminary and promising recommendations" agreed to during the Morocco dialogue.

That agreement, however, failed in its aim of creating a national government in Tripoli and ending the divide between the rival parliaments, governments and military coalitions in Libya, and the conflict morphed into a bloody proxy war.

The civil war has drawn in regional and worldwide powers with the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Russian Federation backing the LNA and Turkey supporting the GNA. The Tripoli forces that hold the country's west are supported by the wealthy Gulf state of Qatar and by Turkey, a bitter rival of Egypt and the UAE in a broader regional struggle over political Islam.
