Singapore Airlines to launch 'flights to nowhere' – Business Traveller

"Airlines are having to make extremely hard choices to ensure their long-term survival as it will be many years before any normality returns to global travel", he said.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is planning to soon launch "flights to nowhere" that will depart from and land in Changi Airport soon, according to New Straits Times.

The Canberra route operated as a Singapore-Sydney-Canberra-Singapore "triangle", while Wellington was served by Singapore-Melbourne-Wellington and Wellington-Melbourne-Singapore flights.

The flights will, however, only be open to Singaporean nationals or those resident in the tiny South East Asian nation.

Singapore Airlines has looked into partnering with Singapore Tourism Board, according to the Strait Times, in an effort to let customers pay for this travel with government-based tourism credits.

It wouldn't be the first aircraft carrier to offer flights that take off and arrive at the exact same location.

'Ghostrunner' coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in October
The companies also announced an updated free demo of Ghostrunner will arrive on Steam for PC Tuesday, Sept. 29. Xbox One players who pre-order can get 10% off.

Each flight is expected to take about three hours, adds the report.

Singapore Airlines Group will cut around 4,300 jobs due to the " debilitating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the urgent need for the Group's airlines to adapt to an uncertain future".

Mr Barr said the decision came as part of a broader announcement from Singapore Airlines that they are also laying off over 4000 people from their workforce.

"SIA, also speaking to "The Sunday Times" said "(SIA) is considering several initiatives that would allow us to continue engaging both our customers and members of the public.

SIA has yet to release prices for its round trip tickets although a survey of just over 300 Singaporeans did indicate that 75% would be willing to pay for such "entertainment".
