Last month, Russian Federation became the first country to register a coronavirus vaccine, which was named Sputnik V. Developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute, it underwent clinical trials in June and July.

The vaccine was administered in two forms - frozen and freeze-dried - and the frozen form showed greater efficacy in terms of production of neutralising antibodies and T-cells.

Meanwhile, the first COVID-19 vaccine - Sputnik V - developed by Russian Federation may be granted permission to release the first batch for civilians this week. The Lancet study states that Sputnik's Phase 3 trial will involve 40,000 volunteers from different age and risk groups.

Everyone will require two doses, the initial and a booster, meaning Australia should have 30 million doses leftover which will be sent to neighbouring island nations to help immunise 15 million residents.

Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire signed the vaccine MoU with the Russian Federation's Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey. "Now we will start asking questions of some of the Western vaccines".

Brendan Wren, Professor of Microbial Pathogenesis at London's School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine said: "The report is a case of "so far, so good".

Epic Games asks court to prevent what it describes as Apple's "retaliation"
At the time of filing, Epic argued that in the absence of a preliminary injunction, it would suffer "unsatisfactory damages". The company's recent actions show that if you challenge Apple's monopoly, Apple will attempt to destroy your business.

In a statement, Mr Morrison said both vaccines would need to be proven safe and effective in trials and meet regulatory requirements before being made publicly available.

Drugmakers and government agencies are racing to come up with vaccines for the new coronavirus and treatments for COVID-19, the respiratory diseases it causes which has killed more than 879,000 worldwide and wrecked economies.

More than 95 per cent of the vaccine doses are expected to be manufactured in Australia, with each batch taking approximately one month to manufacture.

Health minister Mikhail Murashko has said Russian Federation will start mass inoculation from November or December, with a focus on high-risk groups.

Over half a dozen drugmakers are already conducting advanced clinical trials, each with tens of thousands of participants.
