Third off-campus Durham College student tests positive for COVID-19

University reaches 2000 COVID-19 cases: 59 of them faculty, staff

A third Durham College student, who has not yet been on campus, has recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The university on Thursday suspended all on-campus athletics and recreation activities, and all in-person club meetings and events. Access to libraries and other campus buildings will now be restricted.

"These numbers are very concerning", Western President Alan Shepard said in the statement.

The jolt in cases led University administrators to limit undergraduate students to essential activities for a two-week period, which ended Wednesday.

London Mayor Ed Holder added that, for the most part, students are being responsible. He said he was "angry and frustrated", by the rapidly growing case count. From Sept. 10-14, the single-day new case positivity rate stayed below half of a percent. The university has limited authority to enforce rules beyond the bounds of campus, he said, where students are effectively private citizens. This brings the overall number of cases on Elon's campus to 65.

UI on Friday reported 21 residence hall students are in isolation and none are in quarantine.

The travel policy has been revised in response to steadily increasing reports of students leaving the Lewisburg area and returning to campus housing and/or attending in-person classes, she wrote.

Trump announces 13 billion dollars in emergency relief to Puerto Rico
Both parties are courting the hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans who have settled in Florida, America's largest swing state . Earlier this year, HUD released its hold on more than $8 billion in aid, which was supposed to reach the island last September.

"This is underpinned by national guidance for the further and higher education sectors and by more detailed implementation guidelines developed by public health experts".

Students were advised Thursday of the new policy in an email from dean of students Amy A. Badal.

Anyone who was in contact with the infected student will be notified by public health officials.

The University of Northern Iowa on Friday also updated its COVID-19 data dashboard with another 12 cases identified through its Student Health Center, for a total of 147 since August 17.

The majority of cases belong to three households. One also went shopping at multiple unnamed locations.

Most of the cases are connected to the first cluster discovered during the weekend.

While all colleges will open, on-campus provisions will be minimised with priority given to teaching and learning that can only take place on-site. Dr. Shepard said he remained optimistic that the situation could be turned around.
