Twinsights: Josh Donaldson ejected while hitting HR as Twins lose key series

This is Donaldson's fifth home run of the year.

CHICAGO - Josh Donaldson was ejected after hitting a home run and the White Sox clinched their first playoff berth in 12 years after rallying late in what was an all-around unusual contest. Donaldson took exception to a strike call. The two went back-and-forth, which prompted Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli to step in to mediate.

The sixth-inning ejection was not the first time Donaldson had argued with Bellino in Thursday's game.

Donaldson then hit the home run off of Reynaldo Lopez and as he crossed the plate it appeared Donaldson may have gone back to make sure he tagged home plate.

When Donaldson reached the plate on his home-run trot, he kicked dirt on the plate, and Bellino ejected him from the game.

Donaldson additionally had contended with Bellino on a 1-1 breaking ball in the first inning that had all the earmarks of being high yet was known as a strike, prompting a strikeout.

Minnesota could've used Donaldson's services for the rest of the game as it turned out, as the Twins ended up losing 4-3 to the White Sox. Donaldson has hit four home runs in the 15 games since returning.
