"Saint Dog aka Saint Vicious passed away yesterday in Southern California", his team wrote.

The saint was one of the founding members of the Southern California hip-hop group, which formed in Orange County.

Born Steven Thronson on October 21, 1975, Saint Dog based the hip-hop group Kottonmouth Kings in 1996 together with D-Loc and Johnny Richter. Authorities said his friend found him struggling for air in one of the rooms and immediately called 911.

'Saint was a unique individual that had a profound impact on anyone he came in contact with, ' the management company said.

According to TMZ, there were no obvious signs of foul play and the cause of the demise will only be determined after autopsy and toxicology reports are revealed. His record label, Suburban Noize Records, announced his death on Wednesday on Instagram.

Thronson appeared on a number of releases with the group, his final being 1999's "Hidden Stash," earlier than reuniting with Kottonmouth Kings' founding members on the 2018 album "Kingdom Come".
