Manchester United have triggered the one-year option on Paul Pogba's contract, extending the midfielder's deal until 2022.

ESPN reported that Manchester United activated the clause to avoid complications.

"We want to see the best for Paul and I'm sure, in the next couple of years, we'll get the best out of him".

"The spotlight should be on me because I'm the manager and I'm responsible", Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday. He mentioned Real Madrid multiple times, and this led to speculations that a move to Santiago Bernabeu could happen.

"Many things have been said".

As a player you know you're happy when your shots are going where you want them to go, and that's really how I felt today". I didn't feel like I played so bad, so I kept believing", Auger-Aliassime said.

It means Pogba can not leave as a free agent next summer or talk to foreign clubs in January, having once again described the prospect of playing for Real Madrid as "a dream" last week.

"When Harry is part of the England team that beats number-one ranked Belgium, that's just a normal day and then you get the headlines when you get the sending-off", said Solskjaer.

However, he also said that he loved being at Old Trafford and prefers to help United any way he can.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola has always hoped for the player to move away from the English club especially when the star admitted he wants a new challenge. Considering he has struggled since returning to training after testing positive for the coronavirus, work needs to be done.

The 6-1 mauling at home to Tottenham was their biggest defeat for nine years, while talk of players losing faith in Solskjaer and skipper Harry Maguire's alarming loss of form have added to the sense of crisis at United. "He's a lad who doesn't want to hide he doesn't want to hide behind a red card or a bad performance, he wants to go out there and prove himself".
