‘I understood it’: Bruno Fernandes sends message to Man United fans

French World Cup victor Paul Pogba looks to be staying at Old Trafford despite interest from Real Madrid, as Manchester United triggered a one-year contract extension for the player whose deal was set to expire next summer.

During the worldwide break, Pogba said a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid would be "a dream".

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brushed off those comments from the Frenchman, who would have been out of contract next June, during his news conference on the eve of Saturday's Premier League clash at Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old Pogba, who was a graduate of the Manchester United academy, returned to the Premier League club in 2016 in a world record transfer in 2016 after a spell in Serie A with Juventus but the playmaker has been linked with several big-money transfers in recent months.

"The spotlight should be on me, because I'm the manager and I'm responsible", said Solskjaer. "In the next couple of years, I'm sure we'll get the best out of him".

Solskjaer's side have picked up just three points in their opening three league games and head into Saturday's match against Newcastle off the back of a 6-1 hammering by Tottenham before the global break.

When doctors went to check on them Monday, Querrey said his son was sleeping and wouldn't open the door, the tournament said. Querrey arrived in St Petersburg having been knocked out in the first round at Roland Garros by Russia's Andrey Rublev.

"He's not used to losing league games but now, Bruno, welcome to Man United".

"When Harry is part of the England team that beats number one-ranked Belgium it's a normal day. He's clearly not happy with them but then welcome to Man Utd, you are everyone's favourite target if something goes wrong".

There has been plenty of criticism around the performances, individual players and also Solskjaer, with reports suggesting Mauricio Pochettino is already being sounded out as a replacement should things continue to go wrong at Old Trafford. He knows he will bounce back.

The Daily Mail has revealed that Manchester United and four others from the Premier League are in the race to sign the £40m-rated David Brooks.

United's defeat by Spurs left them in 16th place with three points from as many matches and Solskjaer said his players were ready to turn their fortunes around.
