If the founding father who penned Poor Richard's Almanack had lived in 2020, he'd probably have added a third: stanning Dolly Parton.

What has also been gaining steam on Twitter is linguist Gretchen McCulloch's rendition of Parton's hit song "Jolene," which she changed to center on the coronavirus vaccine, instead of a person imploring another woman not to steal her lover.

Speaking about her donation, Dolly Parton stated the following.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company's vaccine is on the last legs of development and has proved to be almost 95% effective.

Still, if anyone can cure COVID-19, it's probably Dolly. Now, several months later, it has been revealed that her donation went toward funding Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, the second vaccine in recent days to report a surprisingly high success rate against the virus in human trials.

"Two of these antibodies are now being tested by a global pharmaceutical firm".

"My long-time friend, a doctor who did research at Vanderbildt for years Naji Abumrad told me that they are taking interesting advances in research aimed at finding a cure for the coronavirus". "But I just felt so proud to have been part of that little seed money that will hopefully grow into something great and help to heal this world".

Second Covid-19 Vaccine Shown To Be 95% Effective
Pfizer and BioNTech expect to produce a total of 50 million vaccine doses in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021. European Union countries that opt to buy doses would be allocated the shots on a pro rata population basis.

Dolly also spoke about her gift on NBC's Today Show, saying: "What better time right now, we need this".

In April, Parton had shared on Instagram that she donated $1 million to research being done at Vanderbilt University.

Parton first donated to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center's COVID-19 research efforts in early April, when there were around 200,000 cases of Covid-19 in the U.S. Now, there are over 11.3 million cases, and almost 250,000 Americans have died.

The Moderna vaccine was trialled with 30,000 people in the us, with half being given two doses of the vaccine while the others had dummy injections.

According to a CNBC report, "The analysis evaluated 95 confirmed COVID-19 infections among the trial's 30,000 participants". They're not the only ones, either; you may recall Pfizer and their partner BioNTech came out with news last week that they had developed a vaccine showing 90% effectiveness, as well.

The data also shows, of the cases of severe COVID-19 in the trial, of which there were 11, only happened in those with the dummy treatment.

The UK government has already ordered millions of doses of the vaccine, and Health Secretary Matt Hancock suggested it could be available from Spring 2021.
