Google and Facebook offer employees work from home till December

Meanwhile, the company has promised it would continue to pay hourly employees, especially those who may not be able to work due to reduced workforce and various other reasons.

The work from home, a Facebook spokesperson said that employees who can continue their work away from the office can enjoy the work from home by the end of the year.

Reports have claimed that the chief executive officer at the world's largest search engine, Sundar Pichai, told employees at a meeting that many of them wouldn't be seeing the office until 2021.

Google's work from home policy is already in place until June and with this announcement, employees get to work remotely for the rest of 2020.

Alphabet's Google said on Friday it has asked employees to take a day off on May 22, to address work-from-home-related burnout during the coronavirus pandemic.

Apart from Facebook, Google is another tech giant that will allow its workers to work from home through 2020. Coronavirus pandemic has forced a majority of workers across the globe to work from home for almost two months.

Microsoft recently announced that most of their employees would be required to work from home until October, and even then employees will have the option to remain at home if they prefer for some time after. While doing so, the company said that it is planning for how and when it can bring certain employees back to their offices.

Social media firm Facebook has allowed its workers who are able to work remotely to do so until the end of the year. This includes content reviewers who work in the areas of counter-terrorism, self-harm and suicide prevention, as well as engineers working on complex hardware.

"Facebook has taken the next step in its return to work philosophy".

The company has given full-time employees $1,000 bonuses to help cover childcare costs and any unexpected expenses that come with remote working.
