Mayo Clinic begins COVID-19 testing for MSU Mankato athletes

William says there are now about 1500 Mayo Clinic employees in the midwest absent from work due to COVID reasons, which could include being infected, having a family member infected, caring for an ill family member, and having close contact with an infected person. The state's hospitals are under extreme pressure due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.

The dean of clinical practices at multi-state hospitals system announced that over the last two weeks, more than 900 Mayo Clinic staff members in the Midwest have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Fox News on November 19, 2020.

Mayo Clinic is asking health care workers to come back from retirement and is bringing in staff from other sites to help with staffing shortages, ABC News reported.

"Our staff are being infected mostly due to community spread, and this impacts our ability to care for patients", Luckstein said. Since the pandemic began, about 2,981 of the company employees have been infected. Midwestern states have been hit especially hard in the latest round of Covid-19 case surges - with Minnesota's governor announcing new measures this week to help curb the spread and Wisconsin's governor declaring a new state of emergency. She says the high demand is putting a strain on the healthcare system as is the spread of the virus among Mayo Clinic staff and their families. She said that while some Americans may get exhausted of hearing safety measures such as wearing masks and washing hands regularly, it is important to continue to take these precautions as the virus continues to spread across the country.

"We're doing this because we care about our communities", Williams said in the update. We don't want families to lose loved ones. "We will get through this, but we need to be safe, we need to protect each other".

"The public urgently needs to treat COVID-19 as the health emergency it is to prevent the health care system from being overwhelmed", the health system said in last week's statement. "The staff we care about the most".

Disturbing new details in alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
The state is using the 3% rate as a benchmark to highlight where it stood throughout most of the summer, through contained spread. So far, Whitmer's alleged crimes in office have not extended to quickie divorces, so she's probably safe.

"We need your help and we need it now".

She says the Mayo Clinic in Rochester now has 32 COVID-19 patients being treated in intensive care units and is adding 12 to 13 ICU beds to meet the expected demand in the coming weeks.

The Mayo Clinic is boosting its ICU and other hospital bed capacity to handle the rising demand for the inpatient care of COVID-19 patients.

Half of the ICU beds were filled by patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19, and the clinic stated that patients diagnosed with the virus have longer stays compared to those that don't.

In coming weeks, hospitalizations and deaths are expected to increase as the number of daily coronavirus cases continues to rise.

"What we are most anxious about is staff, because we see our staff being exposed and getting COVID-19, mostly in the community".
