In 2019, the Duchess of Sussex filed a claim against Associated Newspapers, a parent company of The Mail on Sunday and Daily Mail, over the misuse of private information and breach of data protection act over the publication of her letter to her father back in 2018, shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex's lawyers revealed in new court docs that while neither she nor Harry ever spoke or collaborated directly with Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand on the biography Finding Freedom, the 38-year-old did indirectly give input in the book via a friend who she knew was working with the authors. The reason behind her sharing was her father, Thomas Markle's claims about her cutting him out of her life would be mentioned in the book.

The new court documents reveal that the Duchess sought advice from two senior members of the royal family about how to respond to her father, which prompted her to write the letter at the centre of the letter battle.

In documents from Meghan Markle's lawyers revealed Wednesday in her privacy row, it was claimed the former "Suits" star "wanted to follow protocol" on how to deal with media coverage surrounding her father, who admitted to lying to about posing for paparazzi photos which he staged in a bid to improve his image. The document did not name the members of the royal family consulted by Meghan.

After the trio agreed on the final draft, she hand-wrote the letter to Thomas, which was ultimately published by the Mail on Sunday.

Meghan's lawyers said she showed a draft of the letter to her husband and to Knauf, and that Knauf provided "feedback on the draft but no actual wording".

With Meghan Markle's privacy row now postponed until autumn 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are attempting to get their house in order in California, where they now live with their young son, Archie.

Early this year, the couple announced they were stepping back as senior members of the British royal family and moving to North America.

It appears Meghan Markle did have some involvement in the "unauthorized" biography of her and Prince Harry after all!

The latest documents which are submitted by Meghan's team of lawyers also revealed that the Duchess of Sussex allowed a third party or an "unnamed individual" to speak to the authors of "Finding Freedom" - a biography on Prince Harry and Meghan.

"Accordingly, she indicated to a person whom she knew had already been approached by the authors that the true position as above (which that person and several others who knew the Claimant already knew) could be communicated to the authors to prevent any further misrepresentation", the documents from her legal team reportedly state.

In a ruling on aspects of the case on Wednesday, Warby said Thomas Markle had not been told the reason for the delay.
