A Charlie Brown Christmas premiered 55 years ago on CBS on December 9, 1965. Snoopy decides to cook his own version of a Thanksgiving meal with help from his friends. Apple and PBS have teamed up for ad-free broadcasts of the special and "Charlie Brown Christmas". The Peanuts gang will also deck the halls with the premiere of A Charlie Brown Christmas, streaming on Apple TV+ on December 4.

Apply TV+ took over the rights to the Peanuts holiday specials in October and announced the "Great Pumpkin" episode would not air on television.

Additionally, the Charlie Brown specials will also air for free during three-day window periods on AppleTV+. According to Vulture, this will be the first year since the first special debuted in 1965 that the Peanuts specials wouldn't air on broadcast TV.

Coronavirus immunity could last for years, according to new study
The researchers said that there was about a 200-fold range in the level of antibody responses among the adults. Most of the group (92 percent) had only mild infections and never needed to be hospitalized.

There was originally some doubt the holiday classics would be available free on broadcast television after Apple acquired the rights and the Halloween special did not air on free, over-the-air TV this year.

"Last night it was announced that Apple had swiped the football from us and claimed the specials for their Apple TV platform, leaving us devoted fans who have grown up with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang in the dark, unable to watch", the petition read. The holiday special will be available to enjoy for free from December 11 through December 13. The deal made the streaming service the exclusive home for classic Peanuts content, as well as new original series and specials based on Charles M. Schulz's cartoon characters, several of which have been renewed.

Full disclosure: It's my favorite Christmas special.
