Amazon Prime Video launches a mobile-only plan with Airtel

Amazon Prime has joined hands with Airtel for the launch of the mobile-only plans in the country. Powered by affordable data, the ubiquitous smartphone has become the country's preferred screen for entertainment. Amazon Prime Video announced the same on their Instagram page with a caption stating, "Announcing the worldwide-first launch of Prime Video Mobile Edition in India!" All Airtel customers on bundled pre-paid packs can avail a 30-day free trial by simply signing up to Amazon from Airtel Thanks app using their mobile number.

Gaurav Gandhi, Director and Country General Manager, Amazon Prime Video India, added in a press statement, "Over the last 4 years, Prime Video has become the country's most loved premium streaming service with viewership coming from over 4,300 towns and cities".

Amazon and Airtel say that once the 30-day free trial is over, Airtel prepaid users can choose from a variety of prepaid plans and bundles to subscribe to the Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition plan.

At a recharge of ₹349 pre-paid bundle, they can get Amazon Prime membership with full Prime Video access, free fast shipping and unlimited ad-free music along with unlimited calling and 2GB per day for 28 days.

These recharges will be available on Airtel Thanks app.

Amazon Prime Video mobile-only plans compete with the Netflix mobile-only plan, which is priced at Rs. 199.

Gold rises as rally in USA dollar, Treasury yields hits brakes
Elsewhere, the hitherto soaring Australian dollar fell almost 1% to $0.7693, unmoved by another solid month of local retail sales. I've been contemplating the case for an extended dollar rebound and one of the big lines in the sand is the downtrend in USD/JPY.

Amazon Prime Video has finally revealed the reason behind making "Me" miss from their logo and social media bios. The idea behind the Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition subscription is to tap the much higher mobile broadband penetration on smartphones connecting to the 3G and 4G mobile networks. "With the launch of Prime Video Mobile Edition, we look forward to entertaining every Indian with our Exclusive and Original content".

Meanwhile, Airtel customers who purchase the Rs 131 or Rs 349 recharge plans can enjoy the full Amazon Prime subscription and its benefits, including Prime Video in HD/UHD, ad-free music subscription to Prime Music, and fast delivery on Amazon.in. It is a single-user mobile-only plan, that allows Airtel users to stream Amazon Prime videos in SD quality.

"We are happy to partner with Amazon to democratize quality digital entertainment in India", Bharti Airtel COO Shashwat Sharma, said.

The video streaming major has partnered with Airtel to roll out the offering to millions of prepaid customers of the telecom major. This collaboration marks the deepening of the strategic association between Amazon and Airtel.

What's interesting about the Prime Video mobile plans is that apart from offering a range of online content to users, it also provides them with 4G data to further enhance the user experience.
