Ellen says her staff ran away from her when they learned she had COVID-19

"Obviously, there's a lot of negative things going on, so I want to talk about something positive, my Covid test", she joked, adding, "I'm fine now, I'm all good".

"Hi everyone, I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19", she wrote. "It's amusing, people just really get scared", the host said of the aftermath. "Which is incredible... I didn't realise that you could run, Andy".

"Ellen DeGeneres got candid about her experience with COVID-19 during Wednesday's episode of her eponymous talk show â€" the first episode back after the host's diagnosis in December.

"So I left the studio immediately and our COVID security team had informed everyone that I had had contact", Ellen continued.

She said: "So for the first three days I slept for 16 hours a day, then the fourth day I woke up with back spasms so thought I'd pulled a muscle or slept amusing". DeGeneres said that was only symptom she experienced besides her initial fatigue.

The 62-year-old comedienne and television presenter has recalled how she struggled with back pain amid her battle with the virus and has been on tablets to help her recover.

DeGeneres also told viewers of the moment she was told she was positive at work, and the accompanying chaos that resulted.

"But it persisted so the doctor put me on painkillers and muscle relaxers - jackpot!"

According to Principal Meghan Boriskin, in mid-December, as the holiday season approached, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" was in the midst of filming and airing its annual "12 Days of Christmas" special. "The strangest thing is, I don't know where I got it from".

She added: "I'm still on them, I find the relaxers helpful". I started to feel better so I'm very fortunate and feeling okay now. "The steroid pack worked, but here's the thing about steroids: they make you feel really speedy and really edgy".

Now doing better, the "Finding Dory" star said she's still unsure how she contracted the virus wreaking havoc worldwide. "I wear a mask, I wash my hands, I only lick three or four door handles - so it's a mystery how that would happen". I still don't know where I got it. "As always, I hope this show will give you some joy, brighten your day", she said.

In March 2020, Tom Hanks became the first celebrity to go public with his diagnosis and since then others, including Kevin Hart, Hugh Grant, Idris Elba and Khloe Kardashian, have revealed they have tested positive.

"I've started to feel better and I'm very lucky and very, very blessed that that's all for me", Ellen concluded.

The resumption of The Ellen DeGeneres Show follows a roller coaster year for the talk show host.
