The Marvel villain, that is.

Ethan Hawke has reportedly signed a deal to play the villain in Moon Knight for Disney+, according to THR in citing sources. Most recently, he was a consultant who dresses in all-white and goes by the name Mr. Knight. Although the identity of the villain has not been revealed at the time of writing, Hawke is said to be playing the lead villain, which both suggests that viewers will see a lot of Hawke in the series and that there could be multiple villains on the way.

Marvel's Moon Knight series is just a few months away from filming, and the cast is coming together. Deadpool? Whatever the case, Hawke has a wide range of characters to choose from - which is fitting for an actor of such wide range. However, the identity of Hawke's character was not disclosed. In the comics, Spector is left for dead by his boss after the two find an archaeological dig site. Golden Globe victor Isaac was previously in talks for the titular role, with a cinematographer for the series confirming earlier this month that the Star Wars alum was indeed set as the lead. Spector is approached by Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon, and given a second chance at life if he agrees to be Khonshu's avatar on Earth, and Spector agrees.

Moon Knight - which will be directed by Mohamed Diab, Aaron Moorehead, and Justin Benson - plans to begin shooting in Budapest in March. Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy, Fantastic Four) is serving as the show's writer and showrunner.

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975 for "Werewolf by Night" #32, Moon Knight is the alter ego of Marc Spector, a Jewish-American rabbi's son who grew up to become a heavyweight boxer and then a U.S. Marine.
