Mike Hart, the all-time leading rusher at Michigan and infamously known for inflaming the in-state rivalry with Michigan State, is returning to Ann Arbor.

J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh declared Wednesday (Jan. 13) the recruiting of previous Wolverine running back Mike Hart as the program's running back coach.

"I am excited about the addition of Mike Hart to our offensive coaching staff", Harbaugh said in a release.

Jay Harbaugh, son of Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, had served as Michigan's running backs coach since 2017.

Hart set MI records for rushing yards (5,040 yards) and carries (1,015) and scored 41 rushing touchdowns as a four-year starter.

Alberta easing province wide COVID-19 restrictions starting Monday
But the rate of positive COVID-19 tests - at metric that isn't connected to the number of tests - has decreased as well. There are 806 people in Alberta's hospitals with COVID-19 infections right now, and 136 of them are in the ICU.

As an individual from the IN instructing staff, Hart was a 2018 Broyles Award candidate and gotten acknowledgment as a Top 25 scout by Rivals.com for his work on the 2019 marking class.

Hart, 32, played three National Football League seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

While in Bloomington, Hart's claim to fame has been the development of Stevie Scott III. The Western Michigan Bronocs are set to visit "The Big House" this fall.

"Michigan has always held a special place in my heart", Hart said in a statement.

During his four year career (2004-07) at Michigan, Hart rushed for a school-record 5,040 yards on 1,015 carries, with 41 rushing touchdowns. Michigan's draft drought could end this year if Chris Evans gets picked, but even if that happens, it wouldn't change the big picture of Michigan's running back.
