Sudan has condemned the violation of its airspace and borders by an Ethiopian military plane as the tension between the two neighbours escalates.

The incident "could have risky consequences, and cause more tension in the border area", it added in a statement.

"The current situation is the Sudanese force at the border is boosting its position and moving forward. into Ethiopia's hinterland", Dina told a press conference.

The ministry called on Ethiopia not to repeat such hostilities in the future "given the serious repercussions on the future of bilateral relations between the two countries and on security and stability in the Horn of Africa".

Ethiopia has accused Sudanese forces of pushing further into a contested border region that has been the site of deadly clashes in recent weeks, warning that its "peaceful" approach to the dispute "has its limit".

Kabashi is on a visit to Cairo leading a high-profile delegation that includes Sudanese Information and Culture Minister Faisal Mohamed Saleh, Director of the Sudanese General Intelligence Service Lieutenant General Jamal Abdel-Majeed and Secretary-General of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Mohamed Al-Ghali.
