Anna Wintour is speaking out amid controversy over Kamala Harris' Vogue cover.

The controversy began on social networks Sunday, after the publication by the magazine of its cover for its February issue. However, Vogue quickly faced criticism for how Harris-who is set to be inaugurated alongside President-Elect Joe Biden on January 20-was portrayed in one of the photos, which shows her donning a blazer, pants, a pearl necklace and her signature Converse sneakers. Another social media user also commented that the photo "is washed out, poorly lit, stagnant, junk", asking Vogue, "How could you do such a disservice to a vibrant, attractive woman?

When she came here from India at the age of 19, maybe she didn't quite imagine this moment", Harris said, adding that she believed in an America where a woman of colour becoming the vice president is possible.

In response to the backlash, Wintour told the New York Times' Sway podcast that Vogue "wants nothing but to celebrate Vice President-elect Harris' incredible victory and the important moment this is in American history particularly women of colour all over the world". The 71-year-old Wintour, who is the global editorial director of Vogue and Conde Nast's worldwide chief content officer, said she understood the uproar.

The Vie President-elect's team has not said anything on the debate. For me, this is a very important and positive statement about women and women in power.

During the fall of 2003, the knock on the door, at the home of San Francisco Bay Times co-publisher/editor Betty Sullivan, signaled the arrival of Kamala Harris, candidate for San Francisco District Attorney.

Argentine major winner Cabrera arrested in Rio
Angel Cabrera , the former Masters and US Open champion, has been arrested in Brazil for extradition to his native Argentina. Two federal police sources based in Rio separately confirmed to the Associated Press that Cabrera was the man arrested.

The controversial one was chosen to the detriment of another, more formal photo (above), where the future American number two crosses her arms, in a light blue pantsuit.

The controversy is the latest to engulf Wintour, who found herself under pressure during the massive Black Lives Matter protests that swept the USA last summer.

Rumors of resignation had then circulated around the one that Forbes magazine presented, in 2017, as the most powerful woman in the world in the media and entertainment industry.

But the septuagenarian of British origin remained in charge, after declaring "to take full responsibility for (her) mistakes" and to apologize for "not having done enough" for her black collaborators.

In the interview with Sway, she assures that this episode of tension was "fruitful".

But the magazine said it released both images as digital magazine covers to "respond to the seriousness of this moment in history, and the role she has to play leading our country forward".
