Biden revokes more Trump executive orders, including one on new green cards

The Democratic president stated in the proclamation that Trump's measures had only succeeded in preventing "certain immediate dependents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents from joining their families on USA soil".

Trudeau is likely to ask Biden for help in procuring COVID-19 vaccines, since Canada has been squeezed by production problems in Europe.

Trudeau said they also discussed the strict border measures in place to protect people in both countries from the virus.

"To be competitive and strengthen the resilience of critical supply chains, we believe the USA needs to incentivize the construction of new and modernized semiconductor manufacturing facilities and invest in research capabilities", the letter said.

The US administration official would not be drawn on how US-Canada ties might have been damaged during the four-year Trump administration, opting instead to highlight the various "shared interests" between the two countries.
