Trump no longer owns any casinos in Atlantic City.

It seems like forever, but we've finally reached the point where the Trump Plaza is coming down in Atlantic City. The one-time hotspot of former President Donald Trump's casino empire had fallen into a state of disrepair with chunks of the structure peeling off and flying to the ground in recent years.

Mayor Marty Small made it a goal of his administration in 2020 to tear down the building - which had pieces of its facade falling onto the boardwalk after a storm - which he called "an embarrassment".

Australia's Ash Barty wipes the sweat from her face during her quarterfinal match against Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. Medical personnel took her pulse and temperature before she left the court, and when the Czech returned, she played much better.

"It will crumble like a deck of cards", Fire Chief Scott Evans said to The Associated Press. It originally attracted high-stakes gambler and elite guests, offering $1,500 tickets to heavyweight fights, according to The New York Times.

Atlantic City's Facebook page will be streaming the event, which has helped generate some goodwill towards the community. "So when he left Atlantic City, it wasn't, 'Sorry to see you go.' It was, 'How fast can you get the hell out of here?'"

Trump eventually severed ties with the casino in 2009, following a string of bankruptcy filings, and the Plaza officially shut down in 2014 until billionaire investor Carl C. Icahn acquired it out of bankruptcy in 2016.

Trump had given up much of his involvement by the time the Plaza closed its doors.
