US Capitol: Police uncover 'possible plot' by militia to breach Capitol

Hear why QAnon supporters believe Trump will be president on March 4th

Information provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security warns of increased chatter among extremists, including members of the Three Percenters extremist group, discussing possible plots against the Capitol on March 4, a date that conspiracy theorists have focused on, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The House of Representatives canceled votes Thursday in Washington amid new security threats at the Capitol and members will work late into the evening Wednesday.

Capitol Police say they have uncovered intelligence of a "possible plot" by a militia group to breach the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, almost two months after a mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the iconic building to try to stop Congress from certifying now-President Joe Biden's victory. (That was prior to the ratification of the 20th Amendment in 1933, which moved it to January 20.) The stalwart believers now have pinned hopes on Trump returning to power - apparently through a domestic terrorist plot? - on Thursday.

"We are taking the intelligence seriously".

Lawmakers, congressional staffers and law enforcement officials are still on edge after the attack last month, even as the security posture around the Capitol remains at an unprecedented level.

Some lawmakers have said they're actually more anxious about being targeted at the airport or while traveling to and from their districts than being in their offices in the Capitol.

The Post Inaugural Security Mission is a multi-state taskforce, including Michigan's 1000 personnel, under the command and control of the Washington D.C. National Guard.

Biden says Mexico an 'equal' as he dismantles Trump immigration policies
Biden and Lopez Obrador last spoke by phone on January 23, primarily about migration and the COVID-19 pandemic. Lopez Obrador estimated Saturday that the USA economy would need 600,000 to 800,000 migrant workers a year.

There has been a continuous National Guard presence since the January 6 insurrection when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol to interrupt the counting of Electoral College votes.

The hearing comes as thousands of National Guard troops are still patrolling the fenced-in Capitol and as multiple committees across Congress are launching investigations into mistakes made on January 6.

Authorities have been bolstering security in response to a popular internet conspiracy theory that's based on people believing that former President Donald Trump will be inaugurated on March 4. Blodgett told lawmakers the Capitol Police department has "enhanced" its security posture. The mob was fueled by false conspiracy theories suggesting that Biden had stolen the election from Trump. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) urged Trump to directly call off the extremists who support him.

"President Trump has a responsibility to tell them to stand down", McCaul said on CNN.

FBI Director Chris Wray testified earlier this week that the FBI currently has about 2,000 active domestic terrorism cases open, and characterized far-right extremists as "the most significant domestic terrorism threat" now facing the country.

"The approval for Chief Sund's request would eventually come from the Acting Secretary of Defense and be relayed to me by Army Senior Leaders at 5:08pm-three hours and 19 minutes later", Walker wrote in his prepared remarks.

News of the suspected plot follows last week's announcement by Capitol Police that law enforcement was reviewing intelligence suggesting that a militia group was seeking to "blow up" the Capitol complex while President Joe Biden was inside addressing a joint session of Congress.
