3 adults fatally shot in Austin, no suspect in custody

ATCEMS tweeted that medics, Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department crews were responding just before 12 p.m. local time.

Three people have been killed in what authorities are calling an active shooter incident in Austin, Texas, on Sunday. The suspect is still at large, and residents should still shelter in place and report any suspicious activity, according to the tweet.

Austin-Travis County EMS says it was reported at 11:42 a.m. Sunday. EMS spokeswoman Capt. Christa Stedman said early Sunday afternoon that it was still an active scene and no arrests have been made.

Police said that it appears there is no risk to the general public.

In the United States , health officials are already preparing for booster doses to be issued between nine and twelve months after people are fully vaccinated .

The area includes a strip mall containing several retail stores and large apartment complexes situated near wooded rolling hills.

Police are reportedly searching the woods near the crime scene for the shooter. There were also several ambulances and two SWAT trucks at the scene, as well as two police helicopters and a drone overhead.
