Covid-19 vaccination: India inoculates over 33 lakh people in a day

As of this week around 100 million doses of India's Covishield and Covaxin vaccines have been administered, according to the BBC.

The number of active COVID-19 cases stands at 1.4 million, according to the ministry. A total of 25,92,07,108 samples have been tested in the country as of April 12 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The country's total case load reached 14.1 million, behind only the USA, which leads the global tally with 31.4 million cases.

The figures do not include cases and deaths from Ladakh U.T. The data is sourced from covid19india.org, an independent aggregator of daily COVID-19 figures.

Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan have shown a high rise in the COVID daily new cases and 80.76 per cent of the new cases are reported from these ten states.

As many as 104 virus-related deaths were registered in the 24-hour period.

The announcement came a day after Potter resigned from the Brooklyn Centre Police Department, where she had served for 26 years. Video of the scene showed a police officer with a megaphone telling demonstrators to leave the area.

"82.04% of the new cases are reported from these 10 states", the Indian health ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

In capital Delhi, too, daily Covid-19 cases are hitting new records, with doctors warning the surge could be deadlier than in 2020.

The country has so far reported a total of 1,38,52,599 cases and 1,71,929 deaths. Thus far, 1,24,29,564 people have also recovered from the disease.

The total case load reached 14.1 million, only second to the United States, which leads the global tally with 31.4 million cases.

Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Lakshadweep, and Arunachal Pradesh have not reported any COVID19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
