Ford to announce new restrictions tomorrow as COVID cases continue to climb

"We are calling on the Ford government to recognize the hardship kids and families will face and do everything in their power to reopen schools where they have closed as soon as possible and save the school year", the Children's Health Coalition said in a statement.

All Toronto schools will close on Wednesday, with students shifting to remote learning amid a troubling spike in COVID-19 outbreaks. "Stricter lockdowns have been shown to be effective in other countries to control transmission while vaccine campaigns progressed to achieve sufficient population coverage to suppress transmission".

This order which closed all in-person dining, fitness facilities and personal care services in Ontario is in effect likely until the end of April. Since that time, Ottawa Public Health has reported 2,346 new cases of COVID-19. According to the Ontario government website, there are now 2,028 COVID-19 cases reported in the last 14 days.

Tougher public health restrictions could be on the way.
