MI to extend COVID restrictions in offices for six more months

How We Work during COVID-19

How We Work during COVID-19

"We are seeing a surge in MI despite the fact that we have some of the strongest policies in place: mask mandates, capacity limits, working from home", Whitmer stated.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been asked whether the United States is "turning a corner" and can soon expect to see an end to the coronavirus pandemic.

Across the country, COVID-19 hospitalizations are increasing for ages 18-64, particularly in the upper Midwest, CNN reported.

White House coronavirus adviser Andy Slavitt told reporters the US government would work to ensure that states such as MI were ordering the full amount of vaccine that was available to them but said that shifting distribution was not in line with the administration's public health strategy. How do you respond to that?

WHITMER: I don't think there's a governor in the country that's leaving any vaccines on the table.

Whitmer, however, said the state has the capacity to get more shots in arms and warned that maintaining rigid plans for vaccine distribution could also harm other states if they experience outbreaks.

Police said Brooklyn Centre officers wear body-worn cameras and they also believe dash cameras were activated during the incident. After nightfall, the groups of people had gathered around the Brooklyn Center Police Department, CNN crews on scene reported .

"In an undertaking of this magnitude, with such outcome, it's important to recognize where there might need to be some adjustments along the way", she said, adding that in the last two weeks, more than 1 million shots have been administered in MI. "So we have really been rolling", said Whitmer. Florida has reported almost 3,500 cases, which is the highest total in the country, followed by MI with more than 2,200 cases.

The White House COVID-19 response team will hold its briefing Monday morning at 11 a.m. ET.

"Because we are seeing so many cases a day, our public health system is overwhelmed", Joneigh Khaldun, MD, the chief medical executive for MI, said during the news conference. We could get more vaccines in arms.

Karl Manke, a MI barber who defied state COVID-19 restrictions, has been fined $9,000 for violations including carrying a comb in his pocket. And so it's on all of us to recognize we can squash where we're seeing hot spots.

BRENNAN: So did you get any explanation as to why the White House won't surge you vaccine at this time of crisis? And we are definitely grateful for the boots on the ground that they're sending the mobile units. "We have to continue to push forward, making sure that were getting as many people as possible vaccinated". We have continued to have good mitigation policies.
