Security personnel and firefighters arrive at the site of the explosion in Quetta

At least four people were killed while several others wounded on Wednesday when a blast occurred near Quetta's Sereena Chowk, ARY News reported. Hotel officials said that some employees of the hotel were missing.

The hotel is frequented by foreigners as it is the city's only luxury hotel and is considered safe.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing. "It was a suicide attack in which our suicide bomber used his explosives-filled auto in the hotel", a spokesman for the group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) wrote in a text message to a Reuters reporter.

Resentment has been fuelled by billions of dollars of Chinese money flowing into the region through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) - a key part of China's Belt and Road Initiative - which locals say gave them little benefit as most new jobs went to outsiders. Multiple cars in the parking lot caught on fire as a result of the blast.

A powerful blast in Balochistan's capital has left people in shock.

Rasheed said that a vehicle somehow managed to enter the hotel, adding that "hotel security [staff] is fine, one or two personnel are injured". Police said rescuers transported victims to nearby hospitals.

Emergency was declared in all government hospitals after the blast.

To start registering people 18 years and older for COVID-19 vaccines
There are 9,353 active cases of the virus in B.C., as 14,711 people are self-isolating due to possible exposure to COVID-19. BC health officials have announced several new public health orders aimed at restricting travel across the province.

The blast hit the vehicle park of the Serena Hotel in the city of Quetta. "We are investigating the nature of blast as the bomb disposal squad and the Counter-Terrorism Department has sealed the area of blast for investigation and collecting evidences".

Assistant Commissioner Revenue Quetta Ijaz Ahmed and Assistant Commissioner Jaffarabad Bilal Shabbir are also among the injured.

The name of one injured is not known.

Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove, while talking to media, said that it is being investigated whether the target of the attack was the Chinese ambassador or not. That incident ended the free movement of Chinese in Quetta. "I just met him. he is in high spirits and would continue his activities", he added.

"The ambassador was out for a meeting when the explosion took place", he added.

No group immediately claimed the attack.

Three people killed in the attack have been identified as police officer Shujaat Abbasi, hotel security in charge Shahzaib Yousafzai, and private security guard Asadullah.
