West Ham United mourn Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

On behalf of everyone at West Ham United, Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold expressed their sadness at Prince Philip's death and honest condolences to the Royal Family.

Piers Morgan has led celebrities in paying tribute after the death of Prince Philip, calling him "a truly great Briton".

"We have sent our deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and our president, HRH The Duke of Cambridge", the English Football Association said.

Britain's Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died at age 99 on April 9 at Windsor Castle.

"I am saddened by news that the Duke of Edinburgh has died".

Narendra Moda, India's prime minister, also offered his respects, saying Prince Philip "had a distinguished career in the military and was at the forefront of many community service initiatives".

"The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss".

The husband of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip of 74 years, Prince Philip was by Her Majesty's side to guide the United Kingdom through almost seven decades following The Queen's coronation in 1952.

"His support for the people of east London for many decades was a source of inspiration and reassurance to so many, and whenever he and The Queen visited, you could be sure many thousands would line the streets to welcome them".

"I would like to extend my honest sympathy to Her Majesty The Queen, the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom on this very sad day".
