The country authorised more local firms to take foreign orders and deals to produce Covishield (known overseas as AstraZeneca vaccine), Covaxin (India's first indigenous Covid-19 vaccine) and Sputnik V, the Russian vaccine; all of which have been authorised for emergency use by the WHO.

Justin Bates, CEO of the Ontario Pharmacists Association, says "a few" Toronto pharmacies received vaccine supply on Tuesday while the vast majority will be receiving their doses on Wednesday.

One individual even said that she called a dozen GTA pharmacies in search of an appointment after being told that her neighbourhood pharmacy wasn't being allocated vaccines this time around.

Across Canada 12 people have died of VITT linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine but health officials still maintain the health risks remain low.

South Sudan will return 72,000 doses of donated Covid-19 vaccines after concluding it can not administer the jabs before they expire, a health ministry official told AFP on Tuesday.

His comments come as the Taoiseach said more than 2.5 million doses of Covid vaccine would be administered by the end of Tuesday.

The recommended interval between AstraZeneca shots is at least 12 weeks, but the second injection is being offered to the first group of recipients after 10 weeks in Ontario to use up the province's stockpile.

He says if you don't get your second shot early, there's no reason to panic.

European Union calls for investigation after Belarus diverts plane, arrests opposition journalist
A spokesman said President Lukashenko personally ordered that a MiG-29 fighter jet accompany the plane to an airport in Minsk. Mr Pratasevich, who had fled the country for Poland, faces charges that could carry a prison sentence of up to 15 years.

In mid-May, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams said the decision to no longer offer AstraZeneca as a first shot was made as the province receives larger shipments of other vaccines, such as Pfizer and Moderna.

She said that the province hopes to have a list of participating pharmacies up on its website by later this afternoon but in the interim she asked for patience.

"When it comes to what I understand is your suggestion that we alter the vaccine rollout programme for people in their 60s".

Earlier, CITF informed that over 300,000 slots for the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine had been booked as of 12.56pm today, less than an hour after the registration opened to people aged under 60.

"What is really worrying though is the first dose of AstraZeneca is only 30% in protection according to this very, very credible United Kingdom study", Kelly continued.

"Across the sea in the United Kingdom in order to tackle this concern, they have dropped their time from 12 weeks to eight weeks for the second dose of AstraZeneca", he said. "I want to reiterate that people who received the dose should feel very confident about their health".

Primary care offices in six communities also gave out the AstraZeneca shot during that period.

Almost one million people in Ontario aged 40 and older have received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
