Police in northern Saskatchewan say they have taken an RCMP officer into custody in connection with a homicide.

On Sunday, the Mounties issued a release saying they were searching for a 30-year-old woman who may have been abducted in Regina by a 29-year-old man.

RCMP say the investigation is now considered complete and they have no other information to share at this time.

Investigators said the alleged killing took place while the officer was off duty, but few details have been released.

Cpl. Bernie Herman was charged with first-degree murder after police found a man's body in a wooded area in Prince Albert.

Tebbutt wouldn't confirm whether the RCMP officer is a man or a woman, but confirmed the individual is stationed with the Prince Albert detachment.

Saskatchewan RCMP did not respond to a request for comment. As a result, RCMP employees must conduct themselves in a manner that not only meets, but exceeds, the rightfully high expectations of Canadians.

The police said that their investigation is ongoing and the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) of the service is addition to a wooded area in the city, police have secured a vehicle and a residence in the 3,300 block of Dent Crescent as part of the investigation.
