The 18,014 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 277; Far North Central, 31; Far North East, 409; North West, 1,094; North Central, 1,323; North East, 483; Saskatoon, 5,063 Central West, 626; Central East, 1,544; Regina, 3,994; South West, 994; South Central, 1,014; and South East, 790.

There are 96 people in hospital.

On Monday, June 14 residents aged 50 or over or who had first dose on or before April 15, 2021 will be eligible to receive their second dose.

There is one new death to report today in the 80-plus age group from the Saskatoon zone.

Saskatchewan reported 65 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the province's total to 47,941 cases throughout the pandemic.

Ninety-eight more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 46,311 recoveries.

Mr O'Loughlin said: "The HSE and the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) are not supporting that yet so anyone who has had their first dose of AstraZeneca is going to have to wait to get their second dose of AstraZeneca from the vaccination programme".

The latest cases were reported in the Saskatoon (17), Regina (14), north-west (13), north-central (seven), southwest (seven), south-central (seven), far northeast (four), far northwest (three), northeast (three), central-east (three) and southeast (two) zones.

To date, 11,504 cases of variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan. These cases are located in the Far North West, 7; and Far North East, 6.
